ABOUT THE RICHARDSONS

We are Derek and Heather Richardson, and we love all things lawn and garden. Derek's passion for plants and landscape design can be traced back to early childhood where, guided by his mother, he spent many days working outside learning a wide variety of skills from plant selection to layout and proper installation. Shortly after meeting each other in 2016, Heather began to express an interest in wanting to start a garden to grow fruits and vegetables that we enjoy. In Spring of 2019, we purchased our first home together and began to make our yard and garden dreams a reality. Over the years we have expanded our garden, redesigned much of the landscape, and planted tons of flowers, shrubs, and trees. We have created a special space that makes coming home so exciting and have learned so much along the way. 

Richardson Roots was started to share our experience with gardening and lawn care, to advertise plants/ products that we love, and to help others create admirable spaces they can enjoy for years to come!

We welcomed our sweet little boy, Lucas, to our family in May 2023 and feel very blessed to be his parents. 

He told them a story. “Look at a fig tree. Any tree for that matter. When the leaves begin to show, one look tells you that summer is right around the corner. The same here—when you see these things happen, you know God’s kingdom is about here. Don’t brush this off: I’m not just saying this for some future generation, but for this one, too—these things will happen.
